Potamia

This village of Potamia is built in the foot of the mountain in a scene where the beauty of nature meets the sound of the birds and of the running waters. During winter this scene is changing from green to white, because of the snow that falls very often in the area. When you are in Potamia, you have to visit the famous Museum of Polignotos Vagis which is located at the old stone school. Vagis was one of the most important sculptures of Greek abroad.

Until today his work is original and conveys a sense of universality and deep love for human and nature. Just after the exit of the village, a small path will lead you to the two most beautiful chapels of Thassos: St.Dimitrios where you can find ancient remains nearby, and Profitis Ilias on a top with an amazing view inside a fir forest.
