The first habitants were workers. In 1922 some refuges came from the Asia Minor and created their own district. Limenaria knew a huge tourist development during the 80’s and 90’s. There are some interesting places you can visit there, like the Folklore Museum where you can see exhibits of Thassian artists. A special place is the cave beneath Palataki.

There is also another private museum called Papageorgiou and a pottery workshop known as “Fari”. The beaches around Limenaria have quiet environment and are organized. There are plenty of café, bars, and water sport facilities. This village also has beautiful and graphic taverns, hotels, rooms for rent, medics, pharmacies, banks, post office, and a police station.
